Workplace accident insurance for companies is mandatory by law (Decree-Law No. 159/99) and protects employees in case of injury resulting from work activity, including commuting to and from work.
All employers with contracted workers (permanent, fixed-term, part-time) must take out this insurance, under penalty of a very serious administrative offense.

Medical, surgical, pharmaceutical and hospital care, including rehabilitation and transport, through a national network of providers, as well as compensation.
Compensation in Case of an Accident
It guarantees total/partial permanent temporary disability, death, funeral and housing adaptation.
Waiver of the Right of Recourse
It may include optional coverage for waiving the right of recourse, safeguarding the company's financial sustainability.
